Silk Dyeing

I’ve recently started processing a series I shot in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I was there to photograph the development of a silk fashion line, designed by Pauline Cheung of Peony Rice, and weaved by the artisans at the Artisans Angkor silk workshops.

Here’s one from the dyeing room, where the artisans are plunging the silk to distribute the dye evenly throughout the garment. The metal pots are placed on stoves, which keeps the dye at a constant temperature.

  1. I like the immediate impression for me that it may also have been a scene in an abattoir!! Great symbolism!! Jimmy
